About CDAC, Bangalore
  • The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, a premier R&D organization under MeitY, was established in 1988 to develop indigenous supercomputers following import restrictions, leading to the creation of PARAM and subsequent advanced systems. Over time, it expanded into diverse domains including Indian language computing (via GIST and contributions from National Centre for Software Technology), applied electronics through Electronic Research and Development Centre of India, health informatics, and software technologies. It also launched education and training programs in 1994 to support industry-ready skill development. Today, C-DAC plays a crucial role in strengthening India’s technological capabilities by driving innovation, supporting national policies, and developing advanced IT and electronics solutions across sectors. CDAC-B, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Society for Electronic Transactions and Security, has established India’s first QKD testbed in Chennai, known as MAQAN (Metro Area Quantum Access Network). This initiative is being extended into a long-distance network from Chennai to Delhi under the project called QuILA (Quantum Internet with Local Access).
